How to Donate Clothing
Beginning June 1, 2014 we will only be accepting donations the second and fourth weeks of the month on Tuesdays, between 11:00 and 4:30, and on Saturdays, between 12:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., at 1236 S. Halsted St.

July 8th and 12th and 22nd and 26th from 11:00 - 4:30 Accepting Summer Clothing
August 12th and 16th and 26th and 30th from 11:00 - 4:30 Accepting Fall clothing
September 9th and 13th and 23rd and 27th from 11:00 - 4:30 Accepting Fall clothing
October 7th and 13th and 21st and 25th from 11:00 - 4:30 Accepting Fall clothing
November 11th and 15th and 25th from 11:00 - 4:30 Accepting Winter clothing and outerwear
December 9th and 13th from 11:00 - 4:30 Accepting Winter clothing and outerwear
January 2015: No Donations Accepted - Inventory Month
Bridge to Success relies on donations of professional/business clothing and accessories to ensure we have the inventory to dress our clients for work. Our clients will often leave our center to go directly to an interview. We serve men, women and young adults.
When donating professional/business clothing please remember we are preparing our clients to make a great first impression - they won't get a second chance so be sure what you donate will do that for them!
We have a special need for men's shoes in all sizes, plus size clothing for women and big and tall clothing for men.
May through July we are accepting summer clothing only.
We accept business professional and business casual clothing, coats and accessories (shoes, ties, handbags, belts, cuff links, scarves, hosiery, briefcases, jewelry, etc.).
When donating to Bridge to Success, please make sure that clothing is clean, in good condition (no rips, tears, broken zippers, stains, etc.), in season, of current or timeless design, and on a hanger. This ensures that it will arrive at our center without wrinkles. (Some of our participants do not have irons, and they cannot afford dry-cleaning). Many times our participants go directly to a job interview when they leave our center.
It is important that the sizes be noted – especially on a man's suit.
We would love your couture, designer, vintage and evening wear clothing and accessories! While this clothing is not appropriate for our clients, Bridge to Success sells it in our resale boutique, The Bottomline, to support programming expenses. Your support is appreciated.
Donation Guidelines and Needs
If you have experienced a bed bug infestation, Bridge to Success cannot accept your clothing. We also cannot accept pajamas, sweat clothing, gym shoes and socks, flip flops, underwear, logoed t-shirts/shirts, or bathing suits. Thank you for your understanding!
All donations are tax deductible. We do not need an itemized listing of your donations. When you donate you will receive a receipt for your tax file.
Clothing and Accessory Drives
Interested in organizing a drive on behalf of your company?
We appreciate the many clothing drives that are conducted on our behalf. If you are interested in hosting a clothing or accessories drive, please contact us prior to your event to ensure that we have room for your donations and so we can ensure that you are collecting the items that we need. We have clothing and accessory drive guidelines that will make it easy for you to coordinate a successful drive.
Don't forget the Empowerment part of your drive!
In addition to clothing, Bridge to Success relies on financial donations to outfit the men and women who need our assistance! All donations are tax deductible.
- Ask your company to match its employees' contributions with a corporate gift of $150 or more.
- Have colleagues without clothes to donate support the drive with a financial gift.
- Collect spare change and donate it to Bridge to Success.
